9 days and counting…Happy Fourth of July!!

Happy Fourth of July!!  I’m just days away from the trip and so excited!!  Last night, our team got together for dinner, fun and a final review of trip details.  Andy, our fun loving missions director, thought it would be a good idea for us to watch a TLC video about the Philippines….the selection: Bizarre Foods!  It was sort of like Iron Chef meets Survivor.  It definitely brought a unique sense of unity among the team…we all agreed on what we won’t be eating while we’re there :).  While the grubs and tree worms are full of protein, we all agreed that we would seek a more tasty alternative 🙂

So, I have a couple more days to wrap up work and ministry projects so I can finally focus on packing.  As my excitement builds, it is tempered by a tremendous sense of peace.  That peace that says to my soul….this is what I’m supposed to be doing with my life.   I’ve been blessed with many accomplishments in my professional life and the opportunity to travel to many places but it all seems to pale in comparison to the joy I feel when I’m serving on a mission.  Keep me in your prayers for wisdom, humility and obedience to God’s direction throughout this trip and my life.

A song that I recently added to my playlist speaks to this desire of my heart and direction for my life, ” Lead me Lord, I will follow” (listen at: http://youtu.be/7wMt4XrV51Q).  This song is my prayer.

Lead me, lord, I will follow!
Lead me, lord, I will go!
You have called me, I will answer!
Lead me, lord, I will go!

Your plans for me are perfect
I never need to fear
For though at times I feel alone
I know that you are near
My heart just longs to follow
I’m willing to obey
Take my hand and lead me
I follow all the way

I love you all for your support and encouragement! My next post will be from Hawaii where we have a brief layover before the long flight to Manila.

It seems as if time flew. As the days are fast approaching, always take the time to give God the praise, glory and honor for all that he has done and is continuing to do in your life. That song at the end certainly reflects that I pray God’s blessing for you and your team. I pray that his blood covers and keep you safe during this journey. Much love to you my daughter for your courage and your faith.
