Head of the class!

20120724-061617.jpgOur ministry work this week will involve teaching at Cuatro Christian School. Four members of our team (Kim C., Doug and Madonna, and Abram) will work at the primary school and the rest of the team (Andy, Kim,Irene and Carmen) at the intermediate school. This will be our main area of service for the rest of the week. On Monday, we were able to stop by and visit the orphans at New Faith Family Children’s Home. During our visit there, we had the pleasure of meeting a mission team of 18 from Alabama whose work included painting the orphanage. The school and the orphanage are two of several ministries within Kid’s International Ministries (K.I.M.).

What a variety of experiences and lessons learned, as we’ve sought to share the gospel and motivate students to learn in ways that make a positive impact on how they think, act, and feel. Although we are the “teachers”, it appears that we are students in the Lord’s classroom with lessons specifically designed for each of us :).

Lesson #1: Adapt, be flexible…repeat. Some of us found this to be especially important when your expectations and reality clash.

Lesson #2: Grace, grace, wonderful grace. See lesson #1 and be willing to be stretched knowing His grace is sufficient.

Lesson #3: All to Jesus, I surrender. It’s so much easier to just surrender it all to the Lord. Why???….see lesson #2.

As the week progresses, new discoveries and lessons will be learned. However, our biggest desire is that we faithfully carry out the Great Commission:
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age. Matthew 28:19-20

I am so happy to see the Lord provide a building, supplies and consistent order for these children. I am blessed to see the Lord use the hands of His people. This reminds me to give my part in all I do for others. Just think we may be the only ones they have.
