One of the great joys of education is watching children at recess. Ever watch a group of kids racing to the playground? It’s quite a sight! Before they are even out the door, they are already claiming the unseen…swings, jump ropes, balls, etc. Once they reach the doorway, I’ve found it’s best to move out of the way as they run with delight to reach their goal.
Hmmm….makes me think:
Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. 1 Cor. 9: 24
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Phil. 3:13-14
- Am I racing toward the prize or am I consumed and distracted with earthly matters?;
- Am I running with the confidence, energy and enthusiasm towards those around me needing to hear the gospel or am I blind and deaf to their needs?;
- Am I humbled by how much I still have to learn or driven to by pride in what I know?;
- Am I self-denying and self-sacrificing or am I self protective of my time, rights, resources, reputation?
These questions and many more are what I’m reflecting on as I live this life and prepare for this next mission trip. My prayer is for the Lord to use me: wherever, whenever and in whatever way He see fit, to bring glory to His name.
Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 1 Peter 1:8-9
Love and blessings!
