Heading to Thailand

In seven days, I’ll be on my way to Thailand for a 10 day mission trip!  I’m so thankful to all of you who have supported me financially (what a tremendous blessing!), spiritually and practically. Your prayers and words of encouragement as I’ve prepared for this year’s trip have been very much appreciated.

This year, once we arrive in Bangkok, we will head to Kampaeng Phet province.  We will be serving, teaching and sharing the Gospel with students and teachers in elementary, middle and high schools.  This part of Thailand is very rural (farming community) and has a very big stronghold for Buddhism.

Our missionaries have shared that the few Christians that are there have met with much persecution, but remain committed to and happy in their faith in Christ. Wow!  I’m eager to meet fellow brothers and sister in Christ and encourage them to stay firm in Christ.  In a country where Christians represent less than 1% of the population, they will be an inspiration.

If you’ve been paying attention to the news on Thailand lately, you know the country is currently under martial law and there is a bit of political unrest going on, mainly in Bangkok.  I ask that you keep me in your prayers, as well as my fellow team members: Andy, Steve, Linda and Renee. I will provide updates of our travels on this blog, so be sure to follow me.

Psalm 67 is my prayer and I ask that you pray this for our team:

May God be gracious to us and bless us
    and make his face shine on us—
so that your ways may be known on earth,
    your salvation among all nations.

May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.
May the nations be glad and sing for joy,
    for you rule the peoples with equity
    and guide the nations of the earth.
May the peoples praise you, God;
    may all the peoples praise you.

The land yields its harvest;
    God, our God, blesses us.
May God bless us still,
    so that all the ends of the earth will fear him.
