It’s been a while since my last post (June 2014) and here we are at the end of the year. However, if you’ve followed me on Facebook, you know I’ve spent a considerable amount of time traveling.
My last post documented my mission trip to Thailand….17,000 miles, round trip. What an incredible experience to go back for a second time to share the gospel with children and adults, explore the rural areas of Thailand, meet brothers and sisters who shared my faith and learn more about what being a servant for Christ looks like from an incredible missionary couple (Thanks Rob and Lori!). Well worth the miles and I’m looking forward to my third visit in July 2015…but I’m getting ahead of myself.
From July through December 2014, I’ve traveled about 45,000 miles! I think that’s at least one trip around the world :). It’s been a year full of joy, surprises, and challenges of all kinds. I could fill this page with a long list of things I’ve learned in 2014 but I want to close out this year with just a short and simple thought.
This year has been filled with moments of experiencing God’s brilliance, grace, love and joy and it has inspired me. These moments were given and received in a variety of ways: an affirming word, an unexpected surprise, an act of kindness, a touch of beauty found in nature, a smile, a hug, and countless other examples that lifted my spirits and those around me. These “God moments” have been times when I’m acutely aware that God is in the moment, touching our lives in a very special way, and I am encouraged and inspired by that personal touch. It has taught me to keep my focus on God, His will and way, and to celebrate the small daily joys.
This year, I’ve probably worked harder than ever managing work, ministry and school, yet the Lord has been with me every step of the way. Just as the Israelites were provided with manna each day on their way to the Promised Land, I’ve been provided His sufficient grace to sustain me in this journey. My Savior and Creator has provided me (and those who believe in Him) with every spiritual blessing and promises that are always true. An enduring love, mercy, abounding grace, security, provision, protection and so much more! What more could I ask for as I head into 2015!
For those reading this without belief or faith in Christ, my prayer is that you don’t ignore His voice calling you to Him. His patience with you is because He is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (turning away from the things of this life and turning toward Him). Leave a comment with your contact information, if you want to know more about what it means to have a life in Christ.
Love and blessings to you all and Happy New Year!!
